Lynn Coulthard, Sommelier
Lynn is currently in her third year of preparation for the prestigious Master of Wine exams. She holds the WSET Diploma in Wine & Spirits and was awarded her Sommelier Diploma in 2001. She is also qualified as a Spanish Wine Educator and achieved her Certified Spirits Specialist credentials through the North American Society of Wine Educators.
Having worked in the hospitality and wine retail industry for over 25 years, Lynn’s wide range of experience includes seven years of catering and restaurant management with Four Seasons Hotels and the position of Wine Director for both Cin Cin and West restaurants in Vancouver. In addition, she has managed retail stores for Liberty Wine Merchants over the past 10 years.
Lynn’s passion for liquids and laid back style is contagious with her students. She has traveled extensively, spending time in many wine countries such as France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria and the United States. Locally, she enjoys spending time in the vineyards of our very own Okanagan Valley. In spring 2011, Lynn taught courses for Fine Vintage Ltd. in the Middle East for Qatar Airways and she continues to teach for Fine Vintage Ltd. and the BCLDB with James Cluer MW. She also runs the wine programs for UBC's Continuing Studies.
When not immersed in wine studies, she can be found hiking and playing in the coastal mountains with her dog, Handsome Henry the Handful.
